Claudio Cagliero, “The youth training of Pietro Piffetti, Royal Cabinet-maker at the court of the Savoy”, Hever Edizioni, Ivrea, 2020.
Pietro Piffetti is one of the greatest cabinet-makers of all time. A true mystery surrounds the first thirty years of his life: an authentic ace of inlay, he seems to re-emerge from nowhere in 1730, in Rome, when he was recalled home by Charles Emmanuel III to hold the position of Cabinet-maker for His Majesty. This volume investigates his apprenticeship and his professional beginnings, paying particular attention to the specialization stay that the Piedmontese spent in the Capitoline city, a pole of attraction for artists from all over Europe. Starting from the rediscovery of a previously unconsidered document, it was finally possible to identify the master who accompanied the young talent in his path of artistic growth in the Eternal City.

Claudio Cagliero, “A masterpiece of high cabinet-making in the Lanzo Valleys”, Hever Edizioni, Ivrea, 2016.
The author proposes an elaborate study about the unique high cabinet-making altar documented in Europe, conceived by the Royal Architect Filippo Juvarra and commissioned in 1723 to the cabinet-maker Luigi Prinotto for the chapel dedicated to Beato Amedeo of Savoy in the Cathedral of Saint Eusebius in Vercelli: after analyzing this piece of furniture from a technical and stylistic point of view, he makes the reconstruction of the historical events that led it in its current location, that is a Marian sanctuary immersed in a wood of ancient trees that rises in the extreme Lanzo Valleys at over 1340 meters of altitude.
Preface by Roberto Antonetto.
